Case Study Group; Pilot Program

Are you looking for feedback on your herbal and/or nutrition client cases, and a community of people that you can talk to about your clinical questions?

Case study groups are an excellent way to ask clinical questions, find out what works for other practitioners, and to help make sure you are on the right track.

This program might be for you if:

  • You are a practicing Western herbalist or nutritionist with 1-5 years clinical experience.

  • You are currently seeing your own clients.

  • You want feedback from a dedicated group of experienced practitioners and peers on your current cases, including:

    • Clinical assessment

    • Clinical approach

    • Food-based recommendations

    • Supplement choices

    • Herbal recommendations and formulations, including herb choices, dosage, and safety

  • You want to expand your clinical experience through hearing other people’s cases.

  • You are a recent graduate of a clinical herbal or nutrition program.

  • You are a practicing nutritionist who wants feedback on your herbal recommendations.

  • You are looking for ways to gain clinical experience training hours.

This program is not for you if:

  • You have not started to see your own clients yet

  • You are still a student in a clinical program

  • You are exclusively practicing Chinese Herbal Medicine or Ayurvedic Herbal Medicine.

Program Details

  • This is a 4-month program with a total of 8 group sessions that occur every other week.

  • Each session is one hour in length and takes place on Zoom

  • During each session, one participant will present their case, including sharing of a de-identified written case study.

  • The first half of the session is spent listening to the case presentation, including all recommendations. The second half of the session is spent in facilitated discussion of the case including assessment, approach, and specific recommendations.

  • Jillian will provide feedback on all cases and facilitate all sessions to ensure

    • the voices of each participant are heard

    • the conversation is respectful and supportive

    • the information being shared is correct

    • safety concerns are addressed properly, including herb-drug interactions

  • The group will be capped at 8 people, so that everyone has a chance to present one case over the 4-month period.

  • Participants are expected to come with a commitment to attend all 8 sessions of the program, be able to present one case of their own, and not to miss more than 2 sessions.

  • The program will be run through Practice Better, a clinical practice management system, where a group chat will allow participants to share resources, ask questions, and continue discussion between sessions. There is no additional cost associated with this platform for participants.

  • Tentative times for the sessions are 1st and 3rd Wednesdays 12-1pm ET. If you are interested, but these times do not work for you, please reach out to me directly.
