About Jillian

I have been working with clients for 20 years. I am a Registered Herbalist with the American Herbalists Guild, Licensed Nutritionist in the state of Maryland, and clinical faculty with Notre Dame of Maryland University (formerly Maryland University of Integrative Health).

My journey with herbal medicine began in the 1990's when I was active in forest protection work in the Ozark mountains. During this time, I developed a special affinity for plants such as black cohosh, goldenseal, ginseng, bloodroot, and wild yam. I learned that these plants were not only indicators of a healthy ecosystem, but were prized for their medicinal activity.

I began my formal herbal education in 2001 at the California School of Herbal Studies, and then received my Master of Science Degree in Herbal Medicine from Maryland University of Integrative Health.

After many years of working clinically with general health issues that spanned every imaginable condition, I decided several years ago that I could do more good if I chose to focus on a particular condition and area of health. I considered which clients I enjoyed working with the most, and which ones had seen significant progress with my support.

Why I chose to work with IC

When I thought about the success I had had with my clients with Interstitial Cystitis (IC), I began to think I had something unique to offer to this population. Now that I have been focused on this condition for several years, I am so happy I made this choice.

IC is a complex condition, and conventional medicine doesn't always have the answers. Many people find themselves desperate for help, confused about the "IC Diet," and wanting guidance on what herbs really "work."

Because there are so many underlying causes of IC, there is no one herb or protocol that fits every case. My job is to be a detective, to figure out what the underlying causes are, and decide on an approach that that will bring relief while providing a path towards true healing.
