Jillian has been learning about medicinal herbs since the 1990's when she was active in forest protection work in the Ozark mountains. During this time, she developed a special affinity for plants such as black cohosh, goldenseal, ginseng, bloodroot, and wild yam. She learned that these plants were not only indicators of a healthy ecosystem, but were prized for their medicinal activity.
Jillian began her formal herbal education in 2001 at the California School of Herbal Studies, and then received her Master of Science Degree in Herbal Medicine from Maryland University of Integrative Health (formerly Tai Sophia Institute). Jillian now a Registered Herbalist with the American Herbalists Guild, a Certified Nutrition Specialist with the Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists, and a Licensed Dietary Nutritionist with the State of Maryland Board of Dietetic Practice.
In addition to seeing clients in her private practice, Jillian serves as adjunct faculty for Maryland University of Integrative Health, teaching classes in the herbal medicine program, and supervising clinical students in both the herbal and nutrition programs.
Jillian finds her joy in the garden and spending time in nature with her family.
