Jillian found her passion for medicinal herbs in the Ozark Mountains while participating in forest protection work in the mid 1990's. She became fascinated with the plants that were indicators of a healthy forest and ecosystem, and the fact that many of these plants were highly valued for their medicinal properties. This interest led her to pursue education in herbal medicine and become a Clinical Herbalist. After studying at The California School of Herbal Studies and Tai Sophia Institute, Jillian established Greenspring Herbs in 2005. In addition to her private pratice, Jillian works at Roots Market as the Resident Herbalist, and Tai Sophia Institute where she is a supervisor for the Student Herbal Medicine Clinic. Jillian has taught about herbal medicine at Towson University, Howard County Community College, Community College of Baltimore County, The Mountain Spirit School of Herbalism in Asheville, North Carolina, and Tai Sophia Institute. She also teaches community classes at a variety of locations including Roots Market, Morrison Chiropractic, The Still Point, Howard County Holistic Center, and Karme Holistic Wellness Center.
